The Good Press is a personalised news-discovery service. This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

The Good Press is operated as The Good Press. This policy applies to the website and web app at goodpress.au.

Information we collect

You can browse a guest edition without creating an account. If you create an account or sign in, we may collect:

• your email address and a unique account identifier;
• basic profile information supplied by Google, such as your name or profile image, if you choose Google sign-in;
• your selected locations, topic choices, swipe directions, and agenda preference scores; and
• standard technical information needed to deliver and secure the service, such as session and browser information.

How we use information

We use account information to sign you in, keep your personal agenda available across devices, show news that matches your selected locations and topics, operate and protect the service, and respond to support requests. We may use aggregated or de-identified information to understand how the app is used and improve it.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregated use of our pages, such as visits, device and browser information, and page interactions. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies. We do not intentionally send your email address, personal agenda choices, payment details, or other directly identifying account information to Google Analytics.

Google sign-in data

When you use Google to sign in, The Good Press uses the basic identity information Google provides only to create and manage your account. We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendars, or other Google content. We do not sell Google user data or use it for advertising.

Payments

If you choose an Unlimited subscription, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details. Stripe provides us with limited subscription information, such as a customer reference, subscription status, and renewal date, so we can provide Unlimited access.

Where information is stored and shared

Account and agenda data are stored using Supabase, our hosted authentication and database provider. Payment information is processed by Stripe. The public website is delivered through GitHub Pages. We share information with service providers only as needed to operate, secure, or support The Good Press, or where required by law. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and your choices

Guest preferences stay in your browser and can be cleared by clearing browser data. Signed-in account and agenda data are kept while your account is active. You may sign out at any time. To request access, correction, or deletion of your account data, contact us using the address below. We may retain limited information where required for security, legal, or record-keeping purposes.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Good Press is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will publish the updated version here and change the effective date.
